Regal Heights Celebrates “Ribbons and Bow Ties Eastburn Formal Luncheon”

On Friday, July 29, 2016, the residents and staff of Eastburn Unit at Regal Heights Healthcare celebrated their first “Ribbons and Bow Ties Eastburn Formal Lunch Event.” The residents enjoyed a delicious meal followed by music and dancing. “It’s hard to tell who enjoyed themselves more, our dedicated team or the residents,” said Administrator, Kris Perrone. A true sense of connectedness and bringing back a sense of being in the moment is what the Activities, Dietary and Nursing Departments were able to provide throughout this delightful afternoon.

Eastburn, our secured Memory Care Unit, offers a caring, bright and safe environment for our residents. Nico Zaballero, Activities Director, and his team brought the room alive with a beautifully decorated, purple-themed room.

The color purple symbolizes mystery, and Alzheimer’s is indeed a mysterious disease. Researchers have learned much about the disease, but cannot solve the mystery of how to cure or prevent it. Purple represents magic, and this afternoon was magical. http://www.alz.org. Nico and his team look forward to making this an annual event for the residents.

The menu for the event included the following:
Prime Rib, Marinated Herbed Chicken Breast, Garlic-Herbed Mashed Potatoes, Grilled Asparagus, Fresh Broccoli Salad, and Strawberry Shortcake for dessert.
A culinary delight provided by our talented chef, Lennell Preston, and his team.

The dedication of the staff on Eastburn Unit is present on a daily basis – simply by sitting with a resident, holding their hand, or listening to a familiar story a resident tells. Linda Hance, RN, Unit Manager on Eastburn, is pictured with resident, Robert Parks, dancing and enjoying a visit with treasured family member, Joe Spencer. Joe came to visit his wife, Edith, everyday while she was on Eastburn and continues to be a part of our family at Regal Heights. The comments from family members showed how delighted they were in seeing their loved ones dancing, smiling and looking amazing!
